Fans United is a group formed to campaign for regime change at Tannadice. With his reckless mismanagement and repeated instances of salacious newspaper reports, it’s clear that Stephen Thompson was not a fit and proper person to be in charge of Dundee United.
His Vice Chairman Mike Martin took over the running of the club and increased his shareholding alongside the purchase of Gussie Park, but we believe that his presence in the Tannadice boardroom has been untenable since the club was relegated.
Alongside last December’s departure of David McGrory, we now consider phase 1 complete and welcome United’s new majority shareholders. We hope to have constructive and cordial dialogue with the consortium and look forward to hearing about their short and long term plans.
With the greatest of respect, we will also challenge them, ask the tough questions and keep a watchful eye on the boardroom.
This is what Fans United tirelessly campaigned for. Whilst we exercise caution, a welcome new era is starting at Tannadice.
